Beautiful full grain oak bark tanned Leather carry handle for Brompton bicycles
Crafted using finest English oak bark tanned leather from J & FJ Baker tannery in Devon and fully handstitched using waxed linen thread, the handle sits around the frame to help with carrying your bike in folded mode. It fastens at the bottom with press studs and has two straps wrapping around each end of the handle for extra strength. These straps are fastened securely with Sam Browne studs. All the edges of the leather are sanded smooth and treated with wax then burnished to seal and waterproof. The leather is full grain vegetable tanned leather. This means the leather is in its most natural, unadulterated form giving it depth and character which will grow and gain patina over time.
The handle can be crafted in Black, Australian Nut or London Colour brown using nickel or brass fittings and you can personalise with your initials or name free of charge.

This tannery is the only oak bark tannery in the UK
Oak bark tannage is a long, gentle process that protects the natural fibres of the hide unlike modern tanning methods.
The tannery sources hides locally as a by-product of the meat industry and they are tanned using only oak bark and water for minimal environmental impact.
It takes 14 months to produce each piece of leather using this age old technique, making the leather stronger and more durable over time.
It is full grain leather, not corrected grain, meaning that there will be natural blemishes and stretch marks which add a lovely unique quality to the product.
